Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium will be awarded to pupils through the virtual schools responsible for the individual child.  Funds will be agreed during PEP (Personal Education Plan) meetings to ensure students are supported with progression throughout their education at Sandwell Valley School.
Pupil's eligibility is based on:

  • being in local-authority care for 1 day or more

  • recorded as both eligible for Free School Meals in the last 6 years and as being looked after (or as having left local-authority care)

  • identified as having left local-authority care as a result of adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangements order


How do we decide how it is used?

Sandwell Valley School and the Local Authority will agree how the premium will be utilised. For example:

  • one to one tuition

  • educational resources including laptops

  • mentoring / counselling / therapy 


Monitoring of Pupil Premium?

  • the Registrar at the school maintains a record of pupil premium received and what it was used for

  • pupil files contains records of pupil’s achievement; end of term reports; attendance summaries; PEP reviews; LAC (Looked After Child) reviews


Accountability for Pupil Premium?

  • we undertake annual meetings with Local Authority to review the impact on pupil’s achievement

  • the Principal provides a full report to the board of Governors at the end of the academic year
