2020-2021 GCSE Results:

The school is delighted with the GCSE outstanding results, especially in Covid-19 context and of year round on/off registration for ESOL/AP learners.  This has been a challenging year and we are incredibly proud of how our students have adapted to the difficult circumstances.

A total of 66 Year 11 and 12 took almost 206 individual GCSEs, covering a range of five subjects – Maths, English, Science, Citizenship and Religious Education. 50% of the total entries achieved 4 or higher grades with one student achieving an impressive grade 9s in Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Citizenship!

See table below for GCSE 2021 performance:

The proportion of our entries receiving the top grades for Maths (that's 7 to 9, equivalent to an A or above) has significantly increased compared to 2020 and 2019 results! The proportion of our entries receiving the top grades in English, however, has significantly dipped from 45% in 2020 to 32% in 2021. On the other hand, there is a slight boost in percentage achieving 4 or higher in Combined Science from 75% in 2020 to 77% in 2021.

It is important to note that majority of students attending/arriving at the school have missed out a significant amount of formal education. In some cases, this has been for considerable amount of time, resulting in significant gaps in their attainment, knowledge and skills. SVS as a matter of policy ensures that all our pupils will leave with qualification and a secure progression route.

Pupils that started late with us were entered for Functional Skills qualifications in English, Math and ICT. A total of 25 Year 11 and Year 12 took 120 individual Functional Skills examinations ranging from Entry Level 1 to Entry Level 3.
