Progress is our Success

Careers

Students, from year 7 and 8 upwards, are provided with careers guidance that enables that to make informed decisions regarding a wide range of career and further education options, encouraging them to fulfil their potential.

Our Careers programme has been developed to meet the expectations outlined in the Gatsby Benchmarks:

  1. A stable careers programme with a career’s leader

  2. Learning from career and labour market information

  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil

  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers

  5. Encounters with employers and employees

  6. Experience of workplaces

  7. Encounters with further and higher education

  8. Personal guidance

The ways in which we deliver our careers programme are outlined here:

  • Lessons, tutor-led discussions, displays

  • Careers events (Internal/External)

  • Guest speakers

  • Mentoring

  • Once a week, a Connexions careers advisor comes into the school to meet one on one with students.
